Mazmur 36:9

36:9 For you are the one who gives

and sustains life. ¹ 

Mazmur 49:19

49:19 But he will join his ancestors; ² 

they will never again see the light of day. ³ 

Mazmur 106:4-5

106:4 Remember me, O Lord, when you show favor to your people!

Pay attention to me, when you deliver,

106:5 so I may see the prosperity ⁴  of your chosen ones,

rejoice along with your nation, ⁵ 

and boast along with the people who belong to you. ⁶ 

[36:9]  ¹ tn Heb “for with you is the fountain of life, in your light we see light.” Water (note “fountain”) and light are here metaphors for life.

[49:19]  ² tn Verses 18-19a are one long sentence in the Hebrew text, which reads: “Though he blesses his soul in his life, [saying], ‘And let them praise you, for you do well for yourself,’ it [that is, his soul] will go to the generation of his fathers.” This has been divided into two sentences in the translation for clarity, in keeping with the tendency of contemporary English to use shorter sentences.
